Located in the Arlington district of Jacksonville, Blue Cypress Park was originally a local 18-hole golf course serving the Edenfield River Estates community. Due to its position in an environmentally sensitive area, plans were enacted to transform the course into a 9-hole layout while preserving the remaining land for a natural, resource-based public recreational area. The park's original amenities include a community center, formerly the clubhouse, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and the golf course itself. In July 2001, enhancements such as a fishing dock and a boardwalk along the St. John’s River were completed, followed by the opening of the 9-hole course in 2003. Further developments in 2004 introduced soccer fields, trails, tennis courts, and a concession restroom building.
